Sherrie McGraw Painting Demo April 30, 2012 at the Salmagundi Club workshop NYC

Here is Sherrie's painting demo from Monday where she introduced how to paint a still life in oils.  I love the close up of the peony.

This is the demo she did a couple nights later of a copper pot with some berries.  It was filmed and will be available on dvd.  I love all the palette knife work she did on the highlights of the pot.

Here is her palette and the painting below is one of her inspirations and hangs in the Salmagundi Club as well.

"The Portrait Sketch" class by Richard Piloco

My first day of class at Grand Central Academy was really cool.  My teacher, Richard Piloco did a beautiful three hour head study demonstration in oils and large round bristle brushes.  He likes to mass off large shapes and values, beginning with midtones, and slowly add detail and variance in color/value.  I was really jealous of his Manet bristle brushes.  The bristles were extremely long and extremely soft.  He did a large part of the demo using a size 14.
